Central America T minus 7 Hours

Three thirty cab ride.

Gotta make my way through US Customs before heading off to Miami.  Flight leaves at 6:30 in the morning.  So to make sure that ‘Murica doesn’t hold me up too much, I’ve got to leave here at 3:30 am.

At this point, everything is all set up and ready to go.  All is packed, including the second round of packing needed for Seoul upon my return.  Extra battery charger is bought as well as a GorillaPod, which is something I’ve been wanting to try out for a while.  Should be good for setting up random photo ops if it’s just Daina and me in a jungle or on a beach and nobody else is around.

Every place we go has Wifi (it’s how the world works now) so I’ll be throwing photos up on Facebook and keeping the blog updated.  I’ll probably even create a Bitstrip or two.

Now, for those of you who don’t know, Bitstrips is a pretty amazing program I use at school which allows both the students and myself to create comics.  In an effort to get my kids doing a bit of summer writing, I’ve told them to check in on Bitstrips every once in a while since I’ll be posting some stories from the vacation there.  To give you a bit of a taste, here’s one I created (which might make you throw up a little bit).

Gross, right?  Plan on toning down the romance for the once I share for the class.  Grade fours just don’t dig romance.

Of course, it pretty nicely sums up what we’re doing.  Ruins, Daina gets to zipline, more ruins, beach.  Add a trip to the reef in Belize as well.  There’s going to be some awesome stuff on this vacation but the ambition level is definitely toned down a few levels compared to the last few.

So the next few hours are going to be spent cleaning the condo, getting it ready for our housesitter, making sure Onions is all taken care of, getting everything I need for Korea in an easily accessible location.  Might sleep, might not.  Might as well get used to that for the next bit.
